Raqs Sharqi,translated as
“oriental dance”, is the feminine solo dance that was
developed in Egypt as popular and classic.
Present in the
Middle East before the birth of Islam, it is a very old art
which has survived thanks to a strong oral tradition. Marked
by arab muslim art, Raqs sharqi is an abstract and stylich
expression, the language of which seems to transmit a human
ancestral and universal experience.
It is a refined
powerful dance which leans on a very rich past; its creative
and theatrical powers are numerous.
